The Good Place (NBC)
Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c; moves to Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on Sept. 28
Where We Left Off: We don't even want to spoil it for you in case you haven't seen it already, because the Season 1 finale was right up there with the greatest "OMG" finales of the last decade. Last chance to back out before we spoil it! Here it goes: the "good place" was actually the bad place, and Michael (Ted Danson) was an architect of whatever substitutes for hell in this show. Not one to want to waste all his progress, Michael decided to erase the memories of Eleanor (Kristen Bell) et al and start over, but not before Eleanor put a message for herself in Janet's (D'Arcy Carden) mouth which read "Find Chidi."
The Scoop: Season 2 begins with Eleanor trying to make sense of the note she left herself. But the real switcheroo? "The show itself gets to switch to Michael's point of view," creator Michael Schur reveals. And Michael will be dealing with "a boss who thinks his plan is stupid" as well as a crew of demons who have their own demands. Schur compares Michael to an indie film director working with a novice crew and a studio head who hates the script.
But don't expect any big twist in Season 2 like the one in the Season 1 finale. "Almost by definition, there can't be any 'twist' as big as 'Everything you thought you knew about this world was exactly wrong,'" Schur tells us. "So we're not trying. We just want to make a fun season that has its share of new surprises and unexpected revelations." One thing Schur can promise us: frozen yogurt will return in Season 2. Delish!
