What is the threat from Bonaparte if Adalind took the ring off...that it would be painful to the children..what if we switch it, what if he meant the children will be in pain because she dies???

It is possible. The problem is that he was so vague so his words could be interpreted as a simple threat or an actual curse and even so, what is the curse exactly? She's not willing to risk it without finding a way to break the curse, if there is a curse.

Maybe use it to save a Adalind and that's why Adalind and Eve will do something to save a Nick
