I'd say real. If they could plant false memories, can't think of a reason why they'd want to plant one like that instead of something more "you're one of us."

I think what this was, then, is not a split personality disorder. I think what has happened is that Meisner made her into Eve, and threatened her with death if she ever went back to Juliette. She did say something in one of the episodes about "not going there".

The "reason to live" comment suggests she dldn't want to be Juliette again. That could just be a programmed attitude, but it would make threats superfluous.
Meisner threatening to kill Eve if she ever let Juliette out doesn't make sense, because she could kill him in an instant. He'd just watch out for signs the conditioning was failing and if it did would kill her without any warning.

I don't think it was just a threat to make Juliette disappear.
Also physical and psychological punishment (12-25-2020, 11:10 AM)FaceInTheCrowd Wrote: The "reason to live" comment suggests she dldn't want to be Juliette again. But neither does a split personality despite what that wannabe egghead Nick says. brandon Wrote:I don't think it was just a threat to make Juliette disappear. When Meisner told Juliette, "you're dead but you don't have to stay that way", I always assumed she accepted his offer. So he makes her into Eve. But if that's the case, why the physical and psychological punishment then?

Stereotypical indoctrination/brainwashing techniques include sleep deprivation and psychoactive drugs, both of which tend to make people susceptible to suggestion. Not sure whether those would be considered "punishment," but they are certainly physical.
I wouldn't assume that Meisner slapping Juliette during their first encounter necessarily means he did that a lot as part of the creation of Eve.

He was handling someone who was in a cell. Not sure if I got this correctly, but I thought he had blood on him after that. We never saw who it was, I know there were people who assumed it was Juliette, based on her initial encounter with him.

It could have been. Or, it could have been hand-to-hand combat training for Eve. Whoever he was in there with was dishing it out on him pretty well.

We don't really know what every one of those doors is. We saw Trubel's quarters and Eve's. Presumably, Meisner also has one of his own, as do most or all of the other people working there. And there's the room where they were interrogating people. All the rooms we did see were large enough to put down a gym mat big enough to spar on.
All we really know is that Meisner seemed pretty happy to be coming out of a door with his face all bruised up. |
