Adalind was the first wesen seen by Nick. I took it that she told Renard she seen a Grimm but don't see how she knew it was Nick at the time.
Later when the reaper tries to kill Marie than Renard knows it's Nick Adalind seen and because Monroe heard of Kessler one could figure Renard had also, this and Renard knew one other thing Monroe didn't that she had a key.
After Adalind failed at the hospital Renard told her in "Bears will be Bears" to get people to do it and he said I do mean people as he didn't someone to lose control, guess he didn't want a wesen to woge in the hospital when facing a Grimm.
Monroe stopped two of the hit man and the priest was the third, I believe all of them were human.
Likely Renard because the reaper when he showed to get revenge Renard (Wu told Renard that someone was asking about Nick) figured reaper again and if we apply that then I agree he would likely have someway if needed to contact the reapers. Later when they sent the reaper's ear back they threaten Renard. So they also knew he was a royal. And later they went against his royal order not to return when they sent two reapers.
Good connection on reapers and royals question would be how close is this connection? We always seen the verrat doing the dirty work for the royals so why didn't they use the reapers more?
There were a lot of plot holes in that 1st season. One thing I think the writers originally intended was to make Renard a sort of wessen crime lord. But, then along the way decided to make his character more ambivalent. This change left a lot of gaps in the story line.
This is exactly what I think about season one and season two.
