The strong emphasis on Wesen crime cases might have worked better with a smaller cast. G & K mentioned in an interview the difficulty of giving everyone something to do and that they didn’t plan the addition of Adalind and Rosalee. Adalind was the network reacting to positive viewer reaction, and if IIRC, the network wanted Rosalee to stay in Portland as a potential love interest for Monroe.
To me, that sounded like the network felt the show needed something and decided the quick answer was additional characters. If so, maybe the network should have instead taken a hard look at what wasn’t working with the existing characters and scripts.
I might have enjoyed the WoW if the creative team’s effort and the budget had been devoted to those weekly cases with a smaller cast’s character evolutions occurring throughout their work related experiences while struggling to accept practically nonexistent personal lives.
