Well, according to the writers it would have been too much to explain why Nick would sleep in the guest-room and favoured the couch instead. I asked a while ago and got this answer.
I remember I also asked last year while the old writers still were in charge and got the answer from them, that there wouldn't be another room, only a huge empty space. So my first thought about the magical room was that both, Nick and Juliette, had thought about possible trouble (or kids, guests, whatever) in the future and had the new room build after Nick moved back from Monroes. Now the story is, the room was always there.
Well, the new order for the franchise: never use your brain or put something as "canon", unless you hail the writers ... #sarcastic
